Krishna Janamashtmi

All that glitter is Gold!

Hey folks,

The fervour is up...what are your plans? I just came from marketplace, it was all loaded with frills and embellishments!! Well, it had to. With Janamashtmi being around the corner you cannot expect anything less.

We all Indians know that this is a great day as it marks the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. So besides jhaanki, we also make various sweets along with panchamrat to add to the festivity. With all this being done, what remains most important is Jhula!, yep you heard me right, the swing on which our dearest of dear Krishna sits. The Jhula has to be an ostentatious one. So today I have come up with a DIY to do a Jhula which will make it no less than a newly bought one.

The following is how I did my jhula-

Things needed:-
  • Jhula, you can revamp it but of course, you should possess one
  • Fevicryl pearl metallic shade silver-551
  • Paintbrush no. 5
  • Glitter stones

First, you clean the entire jhula with a cloth. Then paint it with silver metallic pearl using a paintbrush. These metallic colors have pearlescent pigments in them which refract light due to their structure and hence, we see the shimmering effect. There is a difference in the refractive index of the media involved...bla....bla. Well, this is what I was doing in all those years at Asian Paints hence couldn't resist mentioning it. Coming back to our DIY, after the first coat gets dried you can go for the double coat, I did one. This is how it looked after the painting was done-

Shimmery, ain't it? What you need to do next is stick those glitter stones on the Jhula in a manner that they look decent. It wasn't a lengthy process and here's what I got after finishing.

These glitter stones look all gold in here :D isn't it? Well, anything associated with Kanha is nothing less but gold. Hence, the title! ;)

The jhula is now ready for Kanha to sit on it.

Extra Tip: You can add a thread from that loop down there and do the customary practice of making Kanha swing on it!

This is how I did my jhula and you can do yours. Extremely new look in negligible bucks!!

So go ahead and show your creativity.
I wish you all a very Happy Janmashtami!

Stay Blessed,
Archita
